Obituary

Sister Therese Forcier, p.m. (Sr. Marie-de-la-Garde), age 84, a Sister of the Presentation of Mary died January 22, 2014 at Elliot Hospital, Manchester, NH.

Born in Springfiled, MA on April 27, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Rachel (Chagnon) Forcier. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary in 1946 and pronounced her final vows in August 15, 1954.

She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Rivier University in Nashua, NH.

Sister taught elementary school in Manchester, Hudson and Berlin, NH. She had a passion and love for the less fortunate. She was involved in Prison Ministry, bringing the Word of God to inmates at Valley Street jail in Manchester. She also brought much joy to school children and the elderly in nursing homes through her clown ministry and her adaptation of many historical characters. For many years, Sister participated in ecumenical movement in the Diocese of Manchester. She was coordinator for the Sisters Retirement Fund.

Her family includes a brother, Richard Forcier of Woodburn, OR and Indio, CA; two sisters, Margaia Forcier-Call of New Mexico, and Sister Jeannine Forcier, M.I.C., from Ville Laval, Quebec; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 in the Resurrection Chapel of St. Marie Residence, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH. Burial will be in Presentation of Mary Cemetery, Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters Retirement Fund, 495 Mammoth Rd., Manchester, NH 03104.
