Thomas "Kevin" O'Neill, 68 years, of Brockton passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2014. He was the husband of Carol A. (Enright) O'Neill for 45 years. He was born and raised in Cambridge by Andrew and Dorothea Johnston of Cambridge.
Kevin served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at TRW in Cambridge for 35 years and retired from the Middlesex Sheriff's Department at the Cambridge Court House two years ago.
He was a resident of Brockton for the past 40 years and was very involved in his son Sean's life. He was a baseball coach for the Brockton Little League Challenger Division and the Downey Memorial Basketball League. "Pa's" ultimate joy in life was spending time with his grandkids. He will be truly missed by all.
He was a loving father of Sean O'Neill of Brockton, and Shannon O'Neill Leafer and her husband Jeffrey Leafer of Rockland. "Pa" was a very proud grandfather to Benjamin and Joshua Leafer of Rockland, and Jillian and Jacquelyn Leafer of Whitman. Kevin was the brother of Kathy Pence and her husband Joe of Indiana, Leonard Johnston of Cambridge, and Deborah Delaney and her husband John of Natick. He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Sunday January 26, from 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 8am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9am. Burial with military honors will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 11:15am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas's memory to Grow Associates, Inc., 68 Mazzeo Drive, Randolph, MA 02368.
