Obituary

Rudolph J. “Rudy” Desilets, 78, of West Peabody, died Monday evening, January 20, 2014 following a lengthy illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Joanne (Coyne) Desilets, with whom he shared forty-nine years of marriage.
Born in Lynn on July 11, 1935, he was the son of Rudolphe and Blanche (Brule) Desilets. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School.
A longtime resident of West Peabody, he was employed by North Shore News for 39 years, retiring as Teamsters Local 42 Union Steward and foreman.
A parishioner of Saint Adelaide Church, Rudy enjoyed hunting, gardening, and bowling. He was a loving and devoted grandfather, and was an avid reader and faithful EWTN watcher.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Heather Lagonakis and her husband Angelo of Salem, and Sister Bernadette of the Immaculate Conception, O.C.D. (Danielle Desilets) of Danvers Carmel, three grandchildren, Alexandra, Nondas, and Demitrios Lagonakis, a brother, Armand Desilets of Washington, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Roland Desilets and Jacqueline McGrath.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11AM in the Chapel of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt. Carmel Rd., Danvers. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7PM in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rudy’s name may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mt. Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA 01923.
