Manchester– Jeannette M. Lavallee, 89, died January 20, 2014 at Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Manchester on June 15, 1924 to Louis and Lena (Douville) Ouellette and had been a lifelong resident but did spend winters in Florida for 10 years.
She was a graduate of Manchester West High School class of 1941.
She retired from Fireman’s Fund Insurance Companies in 1985.
She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church and held membership in the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary.
She enjoyed traveling with a Senior’s group from Catholic Medical Center for many years, and spending time with her family. She was an avid reader, who, in 2012 progressed to reading on a Nook and using a cell phone. She also enjoyed many years serving as a volunteer reader for first graders at Parker Varney School. Her hobbies included ceramics, knitting, crotchet and painting.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alphee O. Lavallee in 1995, and a sister, Beatrice Vincent.
Family members include two children; Jacqueline Mitchell and her husband Wayne of Manchester, Ronald Lavallee and his wife Stephany of Henniker, one granddaughter; Sharyn Czachor and her husband Tom, three grandsons; Stephen Lefebvre and his wife, Eden, Stefan Lavallee and his wife, Claudia Kim, Aaron Lavallee and his wife, Morgan Pinnell, two great grandchildren; Andrew Czachor, Helena Lavallee, and nieces, and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in Sacred Heart Church, So. Main St.
Committal will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
