Lakeville, Mass-----Candace Ann (Merrill) Gurney, 66, of Lakeville, Mass. and Belmont, N.H. went to be with the LORD on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Candy was born November 21, 1947 in Laconia, N. H., the daughter of the late Peter E. and Evelyn M. (Poirrier) Merrill.
Candy had a long and courageous battle with diabetes and cancer. She was never one to complain or give up. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, including her doctors, John Godine and Ilen Kutter.
Candy graduated from Belmont High School and worked at Woodward’s Chrysler dealership in the parts department, rising to manager before moving to Massachusetts where she continued in the same job where she oversaw five separate departments.
She enjoyed life to the fullest, riding horses, motorcycles, snowmobiles, softball and camping.
Candy was predeceased by her parents, Peter E. and Evelyn M. Merrill, and a brother, Philip R. Merrill. Survivors include a brother, Peter S. Merrill, and his wife, Linda, and family; an uncle, Roger Poirrier, and wife, Jerilou, Philip’s wife, Jerilyn Merrill, and daughters, Jean Merrill Stewart and family, Joan Merrill Leroux and family and Heidi Kelly James and family and a large circle of friends and her special Massachusetts’ family, Kelly and Randy King and children, Madison and Alex.
Candy requested no calling hours.
A spring burial at Union Cemetery, Laconia followed by a Celebration of her Life will take place afterwards for those who wish to remember and honor her life.
