Josephine (Otocki) Gwozdz, 89, of Acushnet died January 19, 2014 at home after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late John Gwozdz, Jr. with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late Hipolet F. and Helen L. (Tomkiewicz) Otocki, she lived in Acushnet all of her life.
Mrs. Gwozdz was a communicant of St. Francis of Xavier Church.
She was formerly employed by Acushnet Company for over 35 years until retirement.
Josephine enjoyed traveling, crafts and gardening. She was a member of the St. Casmir's Seniors Club and was the travel coordinator for the club.
Survivors include her children, Kevin J. Gwozdz and his wife Valerie of South Dartmouth, John Gwozdz, III and his wife Joann of Naples, ME, Bonnie G. Herzog and her husband Rudolf of Wareham, Susan G. Baccelli of East Freetown and Richard J. Gwozdz and his wife Madeline of Acushnet; 2 sisters, Florence Donovan of New Bedford and Irene Parker of Acushnet; a brother, Henry Otocki of Acushnet; 12 grandchildren, Meghan Gwozdz, Ryan Gwozdz, Nathan Gwozdz, John Gwozdz, IV, Elizabeth Perron, Carey Herzog, Peter Baccelli, Jr., Nikolas Baccelli, Heidi Branco, Laurie Mitcheson, Jodie Zavari and Kelly Gwozdz,; 10 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Austin, Morgan, Lauren, James, Olivia, Lillah, Ethan, Christian and Logan; several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Stacey Anne Gwozdz, the mother-in-law of the late Peter Baccelli and the sister of the late Jeannette Ladabuche and Frances Getty.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford.
