Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Jean M. (Murdock) Robert, 69, of the Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 18, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter, Audra, and son-in-law, Drew’s, home in Ludlow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on July 13, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late James and Esther (McCreanor) Murdock. She was raised in Springfield and Hampden and graduated from Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham. She later lived in East Longmeadow for over 20 years before moving back to Springfield around 2002. Jean was employed for many years as a Service Coordinator for Spectrum Home Health Care and had offices at Brownstone Gardens in East Longmeadow and Emerson Manor in Longmeadow. For the past several years, Jean had been an active volunteer for the annual Rays of Hope Walk in Springfield. Most of all, Jean was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her cherished granddaughter, Callie Jean Robert, who was Called Home on July 1, 2001. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, George J. Robert. They were married on September 5, 1969 at the former Precious Blood Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 44 years of happiness together. Besides her husband, she also leaves her three loving children, Kathleen F. DiMaio and her husband, John DiMaio, of Naples, FL, Audra M. Robert and her husband, Drew Robert, of Ludlow, and William G. Robert and his fiancée, Betsy Sedlak, of Wilmington, NC; her four cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Victoria DiMaio and John DiMaio, Jr., and Aidan Robert and Allyson Robert; her brother, John Murdock and his wife, Kathy, of Ludlow; her dear mother-in-law, Lise Roberts of Easthampton; her dear brother-in-law, Michael Roberts and his wife, Cathy, of Granby; her dear sisters-in-law, Madeline Graziano and Yvonne Roberts, both of Agawam, and Jeanne Gagne and her husband, Glenn, of Easthampton; her dear aunt, Jean Kirksey of Naples, FL; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins and extended members of the Roberts and Murdock families. Her family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family at Hillcrest Park Cemetery in Springfield.
