Bernice F. (Fuller) Greene, 85, of New Bedford died peacefully January 19, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health.
She was the wife of the late Arthur A. Greene, Jr. with whom she shared 54 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late George W. and Ellen (Mahoney) Fuller, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Mrs. Greene was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford. She was a member and past president of the ladies guild at her church.
Mrs. Greene was formerly employed by Parkwood Hospital for 16 years until her retirement.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was passionate about spending time with her family. Mrs. Greene was proud of her Irish heritage.
Survivors include 3 sons, David A. Greene and his wife Pamela J. of New Bedford, Michael F. Greene of Acushnet and his companion Claudia Warrington and Andrew R. Greene and his wife Nancy E. of Fairhaven; a daughter, Patricia E. Greene of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren, Jaime L. Greene, Timothy D. Greene and his wife Rebecca, Julia F. Greene, Jeffrey M. Greene, Lauren F. Greene, Nathaniel A. Greene and Jesse P. Greene; 2 great-grandchildren, Dillon and Lucas; 3 nieces and a nephew.
She was the sister of the late George Fuller and Ellen Bouchard.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford THURSDAY, JANUARY 23rd at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass in the chapel at Our Lady's Haven, 71 Center St. Fairhaven at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
