Obituary

Bernard “Bill” Tomczykowski, age 93, of Lynn, died after a brief illness at the Abbott House Nursing Home Jan. 18.
Born in Lynn, the son of the late Czary and Catherine (Chwoina) and Alexandra (Cudnik) Tomczykowski, husband of the late Regina (Lavoie) Tomczykowski. He was raised and educated in Lynn attended St. Michael’s Grammar School and a graduate of Lynn Classical High School.
Bernard had served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps having the rank of Technical Sergeant and Hydraulic Specialist on B-29 bombers during World War II.
Mr. Tomczykowski had been employed as a licensed plumber with the Lynn Housing Authority prior to his retirement.
Bernard was former member of the C.C.C. North Haverhill, life member and past commander Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 56, Lynn, held Sgt. at Arms and Sr. and Jr. Vice Commander, was also awarded the veteran of the year. He was also a life member of the following posts: the VFW 2346 Saugus, DAV 64, Lynn, past president of St. Michael’s retirees.
He is survived by his son Ronald J. Tomczykowski of Lynn, his brother Henry J. Tomczykowski and his wife Florence, sister Mary C. Ostrowski, all of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his brothers Sigmund, Felix, Chester and Walter Tomczykowski, Wallace Cundik and sisters Betty Raffoul and Ann Clancy.
Service information: Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from the NADWORNY FUNERAL HOME 798 Western Ave., Lynn, on Wednesday at 9 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Grove Street, Lynnfield, at 10 a.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. P.L.A.V. Post 56 will meet at 6 p.m. for services.
