Catherine A. “Kay” (Hynes) Kieran, 91, of Avon formerly of Whitman, passed away on Friday January 17th surrounded by her family in the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert S. Kieran.

She was born in Whitman, daughter of the late James and Angie (Hamm) Hynes.

She is survived by her sons William E. Kieran of Avon, Richard Kieran and his wife Catherine of Plympton, her daughter Gloria J. Kieran of Brockton, her grandchildren; Sarah, Lisa, Jimmy and Patrick Kieran and Kristina Sherman, her great grandchildren; Logan and Bailey Kieran, Brent and Katie Hebb, Patrick Shepard and Arianna Bloom, her sisters; Margaret Ford of Hanson, Marion Deftos of West Bridgewater. She was also the mother of the late Robert Kieran, and sister of the late Mary Pickett, Dorothy Milewski, Barbara Juliano, James Hynes, Leo and John McAvoy.

Kay enjoyed watching the Red Sox, playing bingo, and traveling to Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Kay was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother that had a heart full of love. She was dearly loved by her family and all of the many people that crossed her path. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Her funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 22nd at 8:15 from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth St. (Rte 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 9:00AM in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be on Tuesday January 21st from 5:00-8:00PM.
