New Bedford – Paul Azevedo, age 70 of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2014 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of 49 years to Nancy (Medeiros) Azevedo and the son of Emily (Almeida) and Arthur “Peachy” Azevedo.
Paul was born in Dartmouth and was a lifelong resident of this area. He worked as an Inspector at Morse Cutting Tools then later worked as a Truck Driver at Babbitt Steam Specialty Co. He loved to fly race pigeons with his wife, Nancy, and was a member of the WCD Racing Pigeon Club and the New Bedford Pigeon Racing Club.
He was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge 914 and the Portuguese American Club. Paul loved to be out in the woods with his dog, Rocky.
His surviving family includes his wife, Nancy Azevedo, of Dartmouth; an aunt, Georgianna Bettencourt, his closest friend of many years, Garrett W. Silvia, Sr. and his sister in-law, Brenda Stebenne, and her husband, Donald of E. Freetown.
His arrangements are private and placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
