Obituary

Marcia J. (Galvin) Farrell, age 73 of Brockton, died unexpectedly January 15, 2014 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Quincy, a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaruite (Johnson) Galvin. Marcia had been a resident of Brockton for over 50 years and had been employed for 17 years as head chef at the Massachusetts Respiratory Hospital in Braintree and retired from Emmanuel House in Brockton after six years. Marcia was most happy when she was cooking, entertaining and gathering with family and friends for the holidays.

Marcia is survived by two sons Michael and Mark Farrell both of Brockton; three brothers Thomas M. Galvin and John W. Galvin both of Quincy and Harold A. Galvin of Florida and Quincy; four grandchildren Kristina, Michael, and Mark Farrell, and Matthew Loring; four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Lisa M. Farrell and sister of the late Judith C. Galvin, Kevin A. Galvin, and Cheryl E. Stokinger.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton postponed to Friday, January 24, 9:30-11:30am followed by a funeral service at 11:30am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
