Obituary

NEW BEDFORD… Raymond A. Desrosiers, 91 of Fall River, passed away January 13, 2014 at Bedford Village Nursing Home, New Bedford.
He was the husband of the late Clair (Bazinet) Desrosiers.
Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Alphonse and Mary (Warnet) Desrosiers and was a lifelong resident of this city.
Mr. Desrosiers was a communicant of the former St. William’s Church, Fall River and worked as a foreman at Fall River Public Works, retiring in 1981 after 31 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran during WWII, having served with the VPB 20 Black Cat Squadron in the southwest Pacific and earning the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Metal with two gold clusters and numerous other decorations. A 1941 graduate of BMC Durfee High School, he was also a member of the Municipal Employees Association, Massachusetts Retirees Association and the Teamsters Union 526.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Raymond Desrosiers and brother of the late Edward R. Desrosiers and Alphonse Desrosiers, Jr.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 9 AM the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at Holy Trinity Church, 951 Stafford Rd. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 8 – 9 AM, prior to the Mass.
