Obituary

Leonard Rudolph Griles, 86, of Charlotte County, VA, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014. He was born on July 21, 1927 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Joseph David and Bertha Mae Griles. He is survived by his wife, Betty Anne Newton Griles, two daughters, Carole Freeman and her husband Bob of Colonial Heights, VA and Bethany Griles Bergin and her husband Shane of Scituate, MA, and three sons, James Michael Griles of Red Oak, VA, Larry Griles and his wife Sylvia of Randolph, VA, and Jamie Griles and his wife Shelly of Red Oak, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Madeline Biggers of Charlotte, NC, eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by three brothers and five sisters. Mr. Griles was a Navy Veteran and a member of Public Fork Christian Church and American Legion Post 260. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Public Fork Christian Church with Reverend Dennis Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 260. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bacon District Volunteer Fire Department, 2000 Barnesville Hwy, Wylliesburg, VA 23976 or Bacon District Rescue Squad, 180 Cannery Ln, Wylliesburg, VA 23976.
