Elodie M. “Penny” Thurston, 89, of Manchester, died January 17, 2014 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a period of failing health.
She was born in Manchester February 22, 1924, the daughter of Albert and Madeline (DeClark Varle) Molderez. She was a graduate of West High School class of 1942-B. She was a lifelong resident of this city.
Penny worked in the Manchester City Clerk’s Office for many years prior to retirement. She previously had worked for Leo A. Cavanaugh Motors, Manchester Paper Supply, Garon’s Supermarket, Paul Gelinas, CPA and Leonard D. Ricco, CPA.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and watching the Boston Red Sox.
She leaves a son, Wayne Thurston and his wife Annette of Manchester; a grandson, Joseph Thurston and his wife Jacqueline of Manchester; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at St. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
