Carlos A. Fortes, 43, of Dartmouth died January 14, 2014 unexpectedly.
Born in Luanda, Angola, the son of Ema M. Pinheiro of New Bedford and Bartolomeu Fortes of Taunton, he lived in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth two years ago.
Carlos was employed as a paramedic with STAT New England and as an emergency room technician at St. Luke's Hospital. He previously worked as a personal care assistant for Better Community Living.
Carlos was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed life, riding his motorcycle and bicycle.
Survivors include his parents; his fiancée, Cherie Adams of Dartmouth; a brother, Luis Fortes of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Filomena Fortes and Maria Fortes, both of New Bedford; 3 step-children, Kelcie, Haelei and Christopher; his maternal grandfather, Vasco Nicolau; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 21st at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, January 20th from 4-8 PM.
