Obituary

Agnes Loftus, 87, of Moosic, died Wednesday, at Celtic Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was the widow of Edward "Ned" Loftus, who died March 1976.

Born in Moosic, daughter of the late Robert and Agnes Coleman Bennie, she was a graduate of Moosic High School. She was a member of Queen of the Apostles Parish (formerly St. Mary's), Avoca, and its Altar & Rosary Society.

Agnes is survived by seven daughters, Ann, Mine Hill, N.J.; Agnes Saveri and husband, Al, Newtown Square; Mary Sochovka and husband, Tom, Moosic; Kathleen Ross and husband, Joe, Dalton; Margaret Alvarez and husband, Bill, Waymart; Christine Stringer and husband, Dave, Conshohocken; and Colleen Lane and husband, Kent, Catawissa: two sons, Edward, Taylor; and Robert and wife, Sandy, Avoca; grandchildren, Joe, Kelly and Katie Ross, Rosemary and Carolyn Saveri, Kevin and Lisa Sochovka, Megan and Michael Loftus, Julie and Grace Alvarez and Kent and Jaret Lane; great-grandsons, Ryan and Evan Ross; sisters, Joan Bennie and Mildred Cesare and husband, Carl; brothers, William and wife, Joann; and James and wife, Genevieve Bennie, all of Moosic; sister-in-law, Nancy Gallagher and husband, Joe, Moosic; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and lifelong friend, Ann Creedon.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Mary, Ann, Robert and Thomas Bennie and Margaret Johnson.

Agnes' family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Scranton Healthcare Center and the Celtic Hospice staff for the wonderful care she received at their facilities. They would especially like to thank Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli for the kindness and compassion he had shown Agnes over the years.

The funeral is scheduled for Monday from the Kiesinger Funeral Service Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Queen of Apostles Parish, 715 Hawthorne St., Avoca. Everyone attending should go directly to the church. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Avoca. Funeral arrangements are being handled through the Michael P. Glinsky Funeral Home Inc., Olyphant.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Donations may be made to Queen of the Apostles Parish, Avoca.
