Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Marion E. (Morrill) Forbes, age 100, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in the Masconomet Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Everett C. Forbes who died in 1957. They were married in 1936.
Born in Newburyport on June 16, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Everett B. and Edna E. (Haigh) Morrill. Marion was a graduate of Newburyport High School class of 1931 and graduated from the Addison Gilbert Hospital School of Nursing in 1935 as a registered nurse. She had resided in Gloucester for over eighty years.
Marion was retired from the Gloucester Board of Health, where she was a school nurse for twenty years. Following retirement, she spent many years of enjoyment at her home in West Gloucester and traveling with family and friends. She was a member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (Cape Ann Chapter), Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America and the Boston Tea Party Chapter, NSDAR.
She is survived by her son, Frederick M. Forbes and his wife, Mary A. of Billerica; a daughter, Susan M. Katsekas of Windham, NH: son-in-law, Donald White of Manchester, CT; two granddaughters, Leah McTiernan and Mara Katsekas; four great-grandchildren, James and Justin White and Abigail and Madelyn McTiernan; one great-great-grandson, Levie White. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Deborah A. White in 2013, two sisters, Grace Yere and Flora Cook, a brother, Everett Dalton Morrill, son-in-law, James C. Katsekas and a grandson, Todd D. White.
In keeping with Marion’s wishes, funeral services will be private. Private interment will be in the Salisbury Plains Cemetery, Amesbury. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the charity of one’s choice.
