Obituary

Claire P. (Cullen) Lynch, a lifelong "Townie", entered into eternal life on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at her home in Charlestown following a valiant and courageous battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.

Claire was born in Boston on July 31, 1942, a daughter of the late Harold Cullen and Jeannette (McLaughlin) Cullen. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1961. Claire worked for New England Telephone Company as an Office Manager for over 30 years before retiring from AT&T. She was elected Mayor of Charlestown in 1988 by the people of Charlestown and enjoyed her many visits to Ireland. She also enjoyed traveling to Foxwoods in her spare time. Claire was a member and Past President of The Daughters of Isabella # 1 and was an honorary member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus.

Claire is the adored wife of 51 years to John J. "Jake" Lynch. She is the devoted mother of Cheryl Mehigan and her husband Daniel of Wilmington, Sharon Lynch of Charlestown and Michele Savoia and her husband Anthony of Tewksbury. She is the loving Nana to Colin P. Smith and Gabe, Kaileigh Gorman, Mark Gorman and Riann Savoia. She is the beloved sister of John "Jackie" Cullen of Germany, Alice Winter of New Jersey and the late Catherine Kavanagh and Joseph Cullen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Claire's Funeral on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be on Monday, January 20, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
