Obituary

BRIDGEWATER - Ethel D. (Waters) Korotsky, 74, of Bridgewater, formerly of West Bridgewater, died Tuesday at home after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Henry Korotsky.

Born June 3, 1930, in Boston, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Downey) Waters.

Mrs. Korotsky graduated from Roslindale High School in 1947 and Bridgewater State College in 1951 with her teaching degree.

She taught special education in Bridgewater elementary schools for 21 years, retiring in 1993.

Mrs. Korotsky had been a Bridgewater resident for the past six years, coming from West Bridgewater, where she lived for 30 years.

She had also lived in Kihei, Hawaii, for 10 years part time.

Mrs. Korotsky was in the U.S. Army Women’s Corp. for nine years, and served during the Korean War.

She enjoyed reading, traveling and playing bridge.

She is survived by her two sons, Stephen J. Korotsky and his wife Debra of Raynham, and Robert G. Korotsky of Hawaii; her daughter, Jeanne M. Korotsky of Hawaii; and her four granddaughters, Pamela, Jillian, Mary and Stacey. She was sister to the late Leo Waters.

Her funeral will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, West Bridgewater. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.

Visiting hours will be on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to Citizen Scholarship Fund at Bridgewater High School, West Center Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
