Obituary

DONATO, Anthony C. of Wellesley, MA and formerly of Westfield, NJ passed away on January 13, 2014. Mr. Donato leaves behind his loving wife, Patricia and two adoring daughters. Carlene Geraci and her husband Lorenzo of Duxbury, MA, and Marggy Gabriel and her husband Philippe of Wellesley, MA. Cherished grandfather of Charlotte, Sabrina, and Audrey Gabriel. He is also survived by his two sisters, Frances Tango of Brandon, FL and Veronica York of Wood-Ridge, NJ. A graduate of Pratt Institute with a B.F.A in Industrial Design, Mr. Donato was the former Senior Product Designer at Lightolier. Mr. Donato invented track lighting, holding the first patent awarded in 1961. Throughout his career he designed lighting fixtures for the track system, obtaining 32 U.S. Patents and numerous professional accolades, including being honored as a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society. The products he designed are still found today in museums, galleries, retail spaces, and homes worldwide including The Museum of Modern Art and The Smithsonian.

Funeral Mass at St. Paul Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley MA, 02482 at 10am on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Reception to follow thereafter. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , NE Chapter, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
