Obituary

Tamarac, Florida – Joseph C. LaTorre, 83, of Tamarac, Florida, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 at his home, with his loving wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Anita D. (Jackson) LaTorre, to whom he was married for 60 years.

Born in Lawrence on May 12, 1930, he was the son of the late Peter and Flora (Caruso) LaTorre. He graduated from St. Mary's Grammar School in Lawrence and from Lawrence High School in 1947. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He worked at the Lawrence Eagle Tribune as a printer for 30 years until his retirement in 1990. Joe was a member of the International Typographical Union Local 51. In his free time, he enjoyed boxing and going to horse racing tracks. He was also an avid reader and a Frank Sinatra fan.

Joe will be deeply missed by his wife, Anita; his 4 daughters, Jo-An LaTorre of Andover, Rhoda Mae LaTorre of Methuen and her companion, Tom Arcand, Robin LaTorre of Methuen, and Bonita LaTorre of Methuen; his son, Joel J. LaTorre of Methuen; his grandson, Sean Davis; his sister, Matilda Rayno of Methuen; his biological granddaughter, Megan; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Joe's life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4 - 8 PM. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 9 AM at St. Monica's Church in Methuen. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
