Obituary

George W. LeGacy, Jr., 69, of Worcester died Monday, January 13th at home. His wife of 29 years, Patricia E. (Moynihan) LeGacy died in 2004. He leaves his daughter, Michelle Montville and her husband Brian of Dudley; a son, Kevin LeGacy of New York; two brothers, Jack LeGacy and his wife, Kathy of Worcester and David LeGacy and his wife, Karen Rae LeGacy of Sandwich; two sisters, Marsha LeGacy Wright and her husband Norman of Ocean Bluff and Lori LeGacy Spurling of East Falmouth; a sister in law, Kathleen LeGacy of Bourne; three grandchildren including his beloved Maggie and 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul LeGacy.
He was born in Worcester the son of George W. Legacy, Sr. and Barbara (Alix) Legacy. George was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Nichols Junior College. George was talented musically playing the bass and singing lead in the band circuit for years. He worked as a vice president at Guaranty Bank in Worcester as well as a consultant before pursuing a career in softball coaching. After coaching his daughter Michelle in softball for years, and watching her on the mound. George coached at WPI for 11 years, acting as head coach for eight years. He just retired last spring, returning to his daughter's alma mater Clark University as an assistant coach. George was very passionate about the game of softball and felt at home on the diamond. He will be missed by all those who loved his warm smile and his spirit.

His funeral is Saturday, January 18th at 10:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, January 17th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
