Donald N. Hammersmith, age 77, passed away on January 11, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center. He was born on December 1, 1936 in Sister Bay, WI to the late Richard and Agnes (Kodanko) Hammersmith. He was a member of the Chicopee Fire Dept. before retiring in 1993. Donald was a huge Green Bay Packers fan. He loved to go camping , watch Nascar Racing and spending time at the Moose Lodge. He leaves one son Michael Hammersmith of Chicopee, one daughter Donna and her husband David Morin of Chicopee; three stepsons Ronald Lemelin, Ray Lemelin, and Steve Lemelin of Chicopee; two brothers Joe Hammersmith of IL and Lester Hammersmith of WI and two sisters Harriet Redelin of WI and Helen Wypyski of IL. A funeral service will he held on Friday January17, 2014 at 8:30 AM at the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee, MA followed by a prayer service at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling Hours will be held on Thursday January 16, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
