Helen C. (Galligo) Openshaw, 93, of New Bedford, died Monday, January 13, 2014 at Sacred Heart Home after a period of declining health.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Jesse and Mary (Vieira) Galligo, she was raised in Dartmouth and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Openshaw was formerly employed by the Aerovox Corporation for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include a son, James H. Openshaw and his wife Queenie of New Bedford; 3 brothers, Stanley Galligo, Richard Galligo and Matthew Galligo; 3 sisters, Madeline Henderson, Alice Naja and Marion Silva; a granddaughter, Samantha Openshaw; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Jesse Galligo, Everett Galligo, Lillian Reed and Henry Galligo.
Survivors include a son, James H. Openshaw and his wife Queenie of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Samantha Openshaw; 3 brothers, Stanley, Richard and Matthew Galligo; 3 sisters, Madeline Henderson, Alice Naja and Marion Silva; and many nieces and nephews.
