Ian Barlow Sinclair, 88, died Monday January 13, 2014 in Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Frances M. (Zallar) Sinclair. They had been married 56 years.
Born in Dundee, Scotland, a son of the late John and Betsy Nairn (Barlow) Sinclair. Mr. Sinclair was a member of the British Royal Air Force and was sent to the United States with fellow members for training and was shipped back to England as WWII was ending and signed on with The Blue Funnel Shipping Line as an Engineer. He traveled to many ports of the world, enjoying many adventures. He later traveled to Canada, then to the United States where he was employed by the Ford Motor Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Sinclair was also employed with Travelers Insurance Company in the Engineering Department and Dean College as Safety Director. He was a certified Safety Specialist (CSP).
He was a communicant of St. Philip Church, a member of St. Andrew’s Society of RI, and RI Commissioner for Clan Sinclair.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Susan Sinclair of Rockport, Maine, Alison Sinclair and her husband David of Mechanicsville, Virginia and John Sinclair of Putnam, Connecticut, grandfather of Malcom, Mei and Bernadette, great-grandfather of Alexi, brother of Douglas Sinclair of Dundee, Scotland and the late Betsy N. Lanktree of Canada.
His funeral will be held Friday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Avenue, Greenville. Burial will be in Acote’s Hill Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-6pm.
