Sandra “Sandy” K. Fiutem, 68, of Medway, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on January 10th after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was the wife of the late Robert L. Fiutem for 26 years until he passed in 1990.
Sandy is survived by her children, Lisa F. Winchell and husband Tom of Canton, MA, Stacey L. Fiutem of Medway, MA, and Chad R. Fiutem and wife Paola of Bluffton, SC, and her grandchildren, Ethan, Calvin, and Dylan Winchell and Samuel and Sofia Fiutem.
Sandy was born in Wheeling, West Virginia July 29, 1945, the daughter of the late Larry and Helen Hockenberry. She was one of five sisters, Elizabeth Kobasko of Wheeling, W.VA, Barbara Breiding of Pittsburgh, PA, the late Mary Trouten, and the late Norma Britt, both of Wheeling, W. VA.
Before her retirement, she worked for many years at Genzyme Corporation in Framingham, MA as well as being a homemaker.
She loved life, her family and her friends. She liked dancing, travelling, and being outdoors. Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, going to her grandchildren’s ball games, to the beach and on many fun adventures.
Sandy was an amazing woman with remarkable strength and she touched the lives of everyone that knew her. She had a gentle soul, loved unconditionally, and gave without question.
Services will be held at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home 204 W Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Calling hours will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday January 17th, 2014. The funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Church on Saturday January 18th at 10:30am with a burial to follow at Union Cemetery.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday February 1st from 1-3 pm at Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway, Massachusetts.
