LAWRENCE: James P. Pond, 56, formerly of Haverhill, died on Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House. He was the husband of Lori (Hoss) Pond. He was predeceased by his first wife of twenty-five years, Kim (Smith) Pond.
Born in Haverhill on March 15, 1957 he was the son of the late Catherine Alertosky.
He was the Director of Maintenance at the Berkeley Retirement Home and Nursing Center in Lawrence for several years and previously at the Greystone Farm Senior Living Center in Salem, New Hampshire.
James was a member of the Crescent Yacht Club for fifteen years also the Sargent Club in Methuen and the Bavarian Club in Lawrence. James owned a Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved to spend time riding it. He enjoyed playing pool and belonged to several leagues over the years and also was an avid NASCAR racing fan.
In addition to his wife Lori, he is survived by his daughter, Christal C. Pond and his future son-in-law, Jeremy Brown both of Athol and his son, James C. Pond and his wife, Jayne and their son, Jackson of Gardner; step-daughters, Amanda Smart and her son, Camden and Andrea Smart all of Haverhill.
A memorial service for James will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the Chapel of the Berkeley Retirement Home and Nursing Center, 150 Berkeley St., Lawrence, MA at 6 PM. A period of visitation will be held prior to the service from 5 until 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Refreshments will be served immediately following the service.
