Obituary

CHICOPEE – Loretta C. (Lemieux) Thibodeau, 95, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, January 12, 2014. She passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Health Care Center surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on May 12, 1918, a beloved daughter of the late Edouard and Alice (Boivin) Lemieux. She was raised in the Springdale section of Holyoke and moved to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in the 1940’s. She was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. Active in her faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anthony of Padua Church in Willimansett. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker and mother to her family. She enjoyed cooking for her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wilfred J. Thibodeau who was Called Home on March 10, 2000; her loving son-in-law, George Dakis who was Called Home on August 28, 2006; and her dear sisters, Claire Lemieux and Rita Menard and her husband, Noel. She leaves her loving children, Pauline M. Dakis of Chicopee and Wilfred E. “Joe” Thibodeau and his wife, Lynn, of Granby; her three cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Willette and her husband, Mark, of Chicopee, Lynn Pragluski of Lenexa, KS and Chad O’Rourke and his wife, Kara, of Belchertown; her six cherished great-grandchildren, Maggie and Molly Willette, and Kaela, Mason, Madelyn, and Jase, of the O’Rourke family; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the Thibodeau and Lemieux families. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, January 16, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning, January 16, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
