Angelo A. Deogracias
February 1, 1962 – December 21, 2013
Angelo A. Deogracias passed away on December 21, 2013 at Community North Hospital after battling lung cancer. Angelo was born to the late Dr. Francisco and Alicia Deogracias.
Angelo is survived by his wife, Tracy Ball Deogracias. His surviving siblings are Dr. Frank Deogracias (Karen) of Indiana, Eva Depa (Paul) of Colorado, Cecilia Lok (Dr. John) of California, Carmelo Deogracias (Shari) of Indiana, and John Deogracias (Lynnette) of Arizona. In-laws include the late David B. Ball (Father), Hester C. Ball (mother), Dr. Mark Ball, Lori Ball (Dr. Lisa Hicks) and Mitch Ball (Valerie Resto). He was godfather to Alicia Deogracias, Christopher Depa, and Andrew and Michael Deogracias. Other survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins, lifelong friend David Records and many more very special friends.
The Deogracias family immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio from Quezon City Philippines in April 1963. They soon moved to Edinburgh, Indiana where Angelo attended elementary school in Columbus, IN.
He enjoyed tennis, bicycling, model building, RC airplanes, University of Michigan football and learning about history. When living in California, he polished his tennis skills and achieved national status with doubles partner and good friend Jim Brownell. Bicycling accomplishments included completing the Hilly 100 and many Tour de Cure rides as well as other charity events. He was an active member of the California and Indiana chapters of the International Plastic Modelers Society where he was a recognized national judge. He also taught Crown Ministries (financial planning) and regularly attended Northview Church of Carmel, Indiana.
Family and friends would describe Angelo as a man of God, kind, gentle soul, thoughtful, well-read, loving, forgiving, sensitive, unselfish, caring and the diplomat of the family. He is remembered by many as: “having a generous spirit,” “the embodiment of all the good people in his family,” “a good sport,” “one who exhibited admirable strength,” “one who loved life,” “a beautiful soul,” “gracious to the very end,” “intense and determined about everything,” “a loyal friend,” and “a loving husband.”
He attended Latin School in Indianapolis, graduated from Roncalli High School in 1980, and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Evansville. Angelo applied his engineering skills in all of his jobs in California, Switzerland and most recently as a sales representative at Advantage Marketing, Inc., in Indianapolis.
Special thanks go to his extensive medical team in Indianapolis and Chicago, his medical advisors, the many volunteers who have supported, loved and prayed for Angelo, as well as a great number of special friends and family.
