Obituary

Rev. Mr. Alphonse T. Desautels. Jr. 78, of North Oxford, died Saturday, January 11th at home with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary T. (Barry) Desautels; his son, Thomas A. Desautels of North Oxford,; his daughter, Anne-Marie Thompson and her husband, Richard of Charlton; five grandchildren, Katrina and Jill Stewart, Christine LaBonte and her husband, Jason, Richard Thompson, II and Rachel Foskett and her husband, William; three great-grandchildren, Carlos and Derick LaBonte and Wyatt Foskett. He was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Mary Dame, and three brothers, Raymond, Edmund and Ronald Desautels.
He was born in Worcester the son of, Alphonse T. and Clementine (Young) Desautels. Deacon Desautels was a Korean War veteran, serving in the Navy. He had been employed by Wonder Bread for 10 years and later for J. J. Nissen Bread as an executive salesman, retiring after 25 years of service. On April 25th, 1992 Alphonse was ordained as a Deacon in Our Lady of the Angels Church, serving his entire career there until retiring three years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, active in the Charismatic Movement, a Friend of Bill Wilson’s for 41 years and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world together; but most important to him were the annual family trips to beaches, Disney World as well as other sightseeing destinations.
Calling hours are Wednesday, January 15th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. His funeral is Thursday, January 16th with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Church. Interment will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon on Friday, January 17th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Our Lady of the Angels Church.
