Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Ernestine (Parks) Holmes, 85, died peacefully Sunday, January 12, 2014. She was the wife of the late Edward W. Holmes who died in 2005.
Born in Gloucester on January 31, 1928, she was a lifelong resident of Gloucester. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years. She enjoyed walks on Cressey’s Beach and times on the boulevard. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many dear friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Woodman and Tom Shea of Ipswich; her son, George Holmes of Gloucester; two granddaughters, Tara Patrican and her husband, Brian and Whitney St. John and her husband, Jarret; four great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Avery Patrican and Eva and Audrey St. John; a sister-in-law, Nancy Holmes of Gloucester and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her twin sister, Charlotte Pierson, and her former son-in-law, Lawrence D. Woodman, Jr.
In keeping with her wishes, services will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Mr. & Mrs. L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 81, Essex, MA 01929 or the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114.
