Obituary

N. Dolores Hickenbottom, 87, died Sunday morning, January 12, 2014. She was the loving wife of Charles W. Hickenbottom, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Florida on Oct. 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nevada (Werdon) Rice. She was raised and educated in Brookline and Hyde Park, and was a graduate of Hyde Park High School.
In her younger days, Dolores was a professional acrobat and dancer as a member of the Rice Sisters. For more than twenty years, she was employed by the Michaud Bus Company.
Dolores was a longtime Peabody resident. Following her retirement, she and her husband lived in Washington for several years before returning to the area twelve years ago and settling in Beverly. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She cared lovingly for her two dogs, Kiwi and Peaches, and her late dog Willow.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her children, Brenda Jeffers of Peabody, Gary Hickenbottom of Guam, and Joel Hickenbottom and his wife Kalen of Peabody, her grandchildren, Joshua Maglin and his wife Kelsey, Jocelyn Whitten and her husband Michael, Emily Jeffers, Tricia Hickenbottom, Melissa Sherwood, and Jacob and Haley Hickenbottom. She was predeceased by a son, Gregg Hickenbottom, five sisters, and three brothers.
Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 7:30PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will begin prior to the service at 5PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores’ name may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
