Daniel R Rivera, 83, of Londonderry, NH, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Manchester, NH surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Boston, MA on December 12, 1930, a son of the late Joaquin and Mary (Sacco) Rivera. Daniel had been a resident of Londonderry for the past 13 years, formerly living in Stoneham, MA. He proudly served his country in the US Army with the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He worked for F.W. Dixon as a cabinet maker for many years and enjoyed woodworking in his free time. What made Daniel the happiest was the special time he spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (DiGiacomo) Rivera of Londonderry; one daughter, Andrea Almquist and her husband Mark of Londonderry, NH; one son, Daniel Rivera and his wife Roberta "Bobbi" of Dracut, MA; five grandchildren, Lisa Dore, Kristen Rivera, Michael Cardello, Tyler Almquist and Logan Almquist, as well as great grandchildren; three brothers, Francisco Rivera of Stoneham, MA, Bernard Rivera of Salem, NH, and Joseph Rivera of Jamaica Plain, MA; one sister, Pilar Valverde of Denver, CO; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Edward Rivera and one sister, Felicia Belair.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Londonderry, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. Funeral services was held on Thursday, January 16th at 10:00am in the funeral home. Graveside services will followed at 12:30pm in the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy., Boscawen, NH.
