CHICOPEE – Jeffrey T. “Jeff” Chamberlain, 47, of the Fairview section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Saturday, January 11, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his faithful dog, Lucky. He was born in Holyoke on January 13, 1966, a beloved son of the late Norman and Sharon (Desrochers) Chamberlain. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and lived in the city for many years. At the age of 17, Jeff enlisted in the United States Navy. He served his country in three branches of the military, serving in the United States Navy, the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Operation Noble Eagle, Enduring Freedom and Iraq. He received the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Marksman Badge M-16, the Expert Badge Hand Grenade, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with One Device. He served at Westover Air Reserve Base in the Reserves with the rank of Technical Sergeant. Following his military service, he remained at Westover as an Air Reserve Technician and C-5 Aircraft Mechanic. Jeff was a member of the American Legion Post 260 in South Hadley, a member of the Chicopee Sportsmen’s Club and a member of La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux. During his leisure time, Jeff enjoyed the open road riding his Suzuki Volusia Motorcycle. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Cynthia A. (Mason) Chamberlain. They were married on June 5, 2004 at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee and were blessed with nearly 10 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving mother-in-law, Thelma Dockum of Granby; his loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Brian Mason, Lynn Lavigne and her husband, Gary, and Scott Mason and his wife, Donna, all of Chicopee, and Lance Mason and his wife, Karen, of Burke, VA; and his cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. He will also be sadly missed by his faithful canine companion, Lucky. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning beginning at St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Funeral Home Service at 9:30 a.m. His Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee.
