Lawrence, MA. - George F. Notenboom, 76 years, died Thursday January 9, 2014 at the Holy Family Hospital.
Born in Patterson, New Jersey March 26, 1937 he was the son of the late Herbert and Caroline (Davis) Notenboom.
George served his country in the United States Marine Corps. before his honorable discharge in 1964.
He was employed as an Operator with the City of Methuen's water treatment plant, and retired from the Town of Tewksbury.
Mr. Notenboom was very active coaching Methuen Youth Pop Warner Football and Methuen Youth Baseball. Among his many enjoyments; An avid fisherman, playing cards, and was a very good cribbage player.
The widower of Virginia (Gaudette) Notenboom, George is survived by 3 children: Gary and his wife Julie Notenboom, of Methuen, Lisa and her husband Timothy McCarthy of Lawrence,Gregory and his wife Lynn Notenboom of Methuen 7 grandchildren; Sarah Notenboom; Eric and wife Devin,Timothy, Hayley and Liam McCarthy; Nicholas and Kyle Notenboom; and a greatgrandson Landon Notenboom and several nieces and nephews.
George was predeceased by his daughter Robin Notenboom.
Funeral Services will take place at 11 o'clock on Tuesday January 14, 2014 from the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Friends will be warmly received on Monday from 3-8 PM at the funeral home.
