Daniel B. Dias, 57, of New Bedford died peacefully on January 9, 2014 surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he was the son of Eugenia "Geninha" Dias and the late Jaime Dias.
Danny was formerly employed at ABC Disposal.
He loved fishing, cooking, and boxing. In his younger days, he was a Golden Gloves boxing champion. He played in several Cape Verdean bands as a bass player.
He leaves behind his mother; his loving children, Tammie Viera, Jaylene Dias, and Malik Dias; his stepson, Kahlil Bell; his siblings, Autilio "Tee" Baptista, Julie Dias, Joana Dias, Joe Dias, Jimmy Dias, and Rosie Dias; six grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM with a funeral service at 7:30 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial Thursday at 10 AM at Rural Cemetery. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
