Devoted father of Elizabeth M. Turenne and her husband Kevin M. of Uxbridge, George W. Thissell Jr. and his wife Lori K. of Hopkinton, Patricia A. Henry and her husband Kent D. of Laramie, WY, Mary T. Faulkner and her husband Kerry J. of Natick, and Joseph A. Thissell and his wife Courtney G. of Dedham. Brother of Gerard R. Thissell and his wife Kathleen of Mashpee and the late Frank Thissell Jr., Thomas C. and William A. Thissell, Janet M. Walsh and John F. Thissell. Also survived by 15 grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
George was a graduate of Boston State Teachers's College, Class of 1954 and received his MBA from Northeastern University. Former employee of Digital Equipment Corp. of Maynard. Lector and Eucharistic Minister St. Bartholomew's Church and veteran of the Korean War. Avid bridge player and golfer and most of all he enjoyed his grandchildren.
Funeral from the George F. Doherty and Sons Funeral Home, 1305 Highland Ave., Needham, Monday, January 13 at 9:30 am. Funeral Mass at St. Bartholomew Church, Needham at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday, January 12 from 4:00-8:00 pm. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park Canton.
