Obituary

Margaret A. (McLean) Gill, a lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully Friday morning, January 10, 2014 at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading after a short illness, she was 87. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Gill Sr. and together they shared 60 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2009.

"Peggy", as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was born in Woburn on November 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Jessie G. (LaFave) McLean. She grew up in the Eastern Ave section of the city and attended Woburn Schools, graduating with the Woburn High School class of 1944. Following high school she attended Fisher Junior College. After college she began working for the then, New England Telephone Workers Bank in Boston.

Following her marriage to Richard on November 5, 1949, the young couple briefly made their home in Cambridge before moving back to Woburn. Peggy's primary focus in life was her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading and watching her soap operas. After her children were grown Peggy assisted her husband with his business needs in later years. In earlier years, she always looked forward to spending her summer vacations with family and friends at Seabrook Beach, NH.

Peggy is survived by her sons, Richard J. Gill Jr. and his wife Sue A. (Devaney) Gill and David C. Gill, both of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Jessie E. Donovan and her husband Greg of Wilbraham, Cynthia "Cindy" Gill of Worcester, and Richard J. Gill III of Woburn. Loving great grandmother to Hannah E., Ryan P., and Cooper P. Donovan, all of Wilbraham. Sister of the late William G. McLean, Doris G. Dorrington, and Robert G. Sullivan.

A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Monday, January 13th, at 11 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family one hour prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's memory to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 607 North Ave., Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880.
