GLOUCESTER – Frank W. Enslow, 55, died Sunday, December 29, 2013, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington following an extended illness.
Born in Gloucester on July 30, 1958, he was the son of the late Nehemiah Clayton “Big Jim” Enslow and Mildred J. (Pool) Enslow. He was a lifelong resident and had attended Gloucester public schools.
In Frank’s younger years, he worked as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. For many years he was a commercial and residential carpenter through the union. Frank was also the owner and operator of a local restaurant, the Breeze in Cafe, also known as the former Beef N Bun, on Main Street.
As a child Frank was raised on Wheelers Point. He had always cherished his memories of swimming, clamming and boating on the Annisquam River with his family and friends. His love in life was his family and friends.
Frank took great pride in his children and loved them deeply. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Brendan Corcoran; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Jackelyn (Pearson) Enslow; three grandchildren, Natalie and Emily Corcoran and Elijah Enslow; six siblings, Harriett A., wife of William R. Tolman, Sr. of New Portland, Maine; Yvonne Enslow of Lynn, and Sandra J. LeClaire, Richard E., husband of Aud of Florida; William D. Enslow and Russell C., husband of Susan (Davis) Enslow all of Gloucester; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close and dear friends. He was also predeceased by his sister, Diane Enslow DeVeau.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on Sunday, January 12th at the Gloucester Fraternity Club, 27 Webster Street, Gloucester. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please bring non-perishable food to the service to be donated to the Open Door Food Pantry.
