Steven E. James, 53, of Marshfield, January 7, 2014, while pursuing his passion of duck hunting. Beloved son of Emerson and Doreen James of Peru, NY. Brother of Michael James of Peru, NY. Uncle of Jennifer and Matthew James of Ridgefield, CT. Also survived by many aunts and uncles.
Steve was born in Plattsburgh, NY, lived in Peru, NY and was a graduate of Peru Central High School, Class of 1978. He graduated from SUNY Oswego and earned his Masters at Indiana State University. He had his Captain’s License and was self-employed.
Steve was President of Boston Big Game Club for the past 27 years which hosts the largest shark tournament in the world, the Monster Shark Tournament and also the South Shore Tuna Tournament. He volunteered his time to the following Groups: President of the Stellwagon Bank Charter Boat Association, Director of American Bluefin Tuna Association, Various National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) & International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas ICCAT Advisory Boards and Panels and Green Harbor Tuna Club.
Steve’s passions were Sea Duck Hunting, African Big Game Hunting with his most recent trip being to Tanzania and multiple trips to Zimbabwe, Mountain Climbing and Fishing out of Green Harbor Marina in his Blackfin “Quality Time”. He loved his wonderful dog Sadie.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 1:00 pm at The Deck at Green Harbor 239 Dyke Rd Marshfield, MA.
Contributions can be made in Steve’s memory to Stellwagon Bank Charter Boat Association, PO Box 1230, Marshfield, MA 02050 to help fight for the rights of fishermen, something Steve has been dedicated to more and more throughout these past years. His determination for fisherman rights cannot be replaced.
