Obituary

ASHLAND: Scott A. Lamont, age 43, a longtime Ashland resident, died on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2014, at Wingate of Sudbury after a bravely fought battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of Marlene Thurston.

Born in Natick, he was the son of Susan M. (Cyr) and John W. Lamont, Sr. Scott was raised in Southborough and had attended Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough. He then became employed in the cafeteria at Suburban Gas of Westborough and enjoyed painting on the side.

In 1991, Scott was badly injured in an automobile accident and was hospitalized for five months. With injuries that severely affected his brain, Scott pretty much had to start over – and go through many years of therapy to regain basic abilities. To the pride of his family, he was able to learn to talk and use his limbs again through much work and sheer determination. Despite all of his difficulties, Scott kept his sense of humor and was always shared the gift of a smile.

He had been living on his own in Ashland when he met Marlene Thurston. The two married and lived happily together for several years prior to Scott’s diagnosis with colon cancer. He was an enthusiastic Motocross competitor in his younger days.

He is survived by his wife Marlene; his mother, Susan M. Lamont, and her partner, John Capone of Framingham; his father, John W. Lamont Sr., and his partner, Holly Perkins of Southborough; his brother, John W. Lamont Jr. and wife Michelle of Framingham; his much loved niece, Bianca Pauline Lamont; three aunts, Debbie Bibo of Framingham, Virginia Reid and husband Ken of VA, and Kristen Miller and husband Mark of IN; two uncles, Kevin Cyr of CT, and Warren Lamont and wife Norine of Ludlow; and many loving cousins and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central Street, Natick, on Monday at 10:00a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be in the John Everett & sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, Sunday 2 – 5p.m.

Donations may be made in Scott’s memory to MetroWest Homecare and Hospice, 85 Lincoln St, Framingham, MA 01702.
