David Claude Garrett; 66, of Anderson died suddenly January 5, 2014 at Community Hospital.
He was born March 12, 1947 in Twinton, TN to Claude and Martha (Threet) Garrett. His family moved to Anderson when he was a young boy. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1965 and Anderson College in 1970 where he played football.
He was a teacher at Central and East Side Junior High for four years then a pipefitter at Guide Lamp division of General Motors for 30 years before retiring on July 1, 2006.
He was a member of Madison Park Church of God where he also volunteered.
He was an avid golfer and member of Killbuck Golf Course. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed family & golf vacations.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (Wiley) Garrett of Anderson whom he married July 22, 1972; his daughter, Gina (Adam) Ferkinhoff; three grandchildren, Colin, Cole and Clay Ferkinhoff; brother, Roger (Sandy) Garrett of Kokomo; sisters-in-law: Nina (Tim) Kline; Nanette (Wayne) Cox; several extended family members and so many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Roy & Marguerite Wiley.
Service will be 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service
with Pastor Rolland Daniels of Madison Park Church of God officiating. Visitation will be Friday, January 10 from 4-8 P.M.
