EDWARD CARNES NUNES, of Hull, passed away on Monday, Jan. 6th, 2014 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 48. Born in Marlborough he resided in Martha’s Vineyard, New York State and Hyannis before moving to Hull five years ago. Mr. Nunes graduated from Cornell University where he earned his degree in hotel management. He was a restaurant manager by profession and owned and operated Lazy Dog Cafe in Provincetown, Scrubby Neck Farm in Martha's Vineyard, for 10 years managed the Hyannis Holiday Motel and for the past 4 years was manager of Panera Bread in Hingham. He was an equestrian and enjoyed trips to Provincetown and Ogunquit, Maine.
He was the husband of Kevin D. Matthews of Hull and son of James and Christina A. (Trotta) Rinoldo of Marlborough. He was the brother of Dianne M. Rollins and her husband Richard and Jennifer L. Wood and her husband Brian all of Marlborough. Also survived by his nieces Elizabeth A. Dibble and Emily Rollins both of Marlborough and Son-in-Law of Virginia Matthews of Rockland. He was predeceased by his adoptive parents, Edward S., Sr. and Eleanor (Pinkham) Nunes. In addition he leaves his two beloved dogs, Fearson and Buddy.
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, Jan. 11th at 11 AM at St. Nicholas United Methodist Church, 128 Spring St., Hull. Friends are invited to visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Friday from 4-8 PM. Rather than flowers, donations in his memory would be appreciated to the Mass. Humane Society, 87 Wharf St., E. Weymouth, MA 02189.
The interment will follow at the Hull Village Cemetery.
