Obituary

Worcester - Norman B. Blodgett, 85, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on January 5, 2014 at UMASS Medical Center. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and a kind caring man.
Norman was born in Grafton and raised in Upton, son of John E. Blodgett and Charlotte (Hall). He graduated from Worcester Vocational Technical High School after taking many courses in industrial management. He also attended the Aircfaft Mechanical School while serving in the United States Airforce in Nagoya, Japan. He worked in the machine tool industry for many years at Norton Company and Warner & Swasey where he was a Cam Designer.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Youth Committee in his younger years. Norman was an active participant in the Nordic Lodge #611, Vasa Order of America for 40 years. He also belonged to the Nagoya/Komaki Air Base Reunion Association. Among his hobbies were fishing, boating, hunting, reading, and travel. Norman had a dry sense of humor, was extremely easy going, kind and patient.
Norman is survived by his wife Anne-Maja Lundin Blodgett of 54 years, a son James N. Blodgett of Worcester, a daughter Janet A. Johnson and a son-in-law David M. Johnson of Shrewsbury. Norman leaves 6 grandchildren: Nate, Madeleine, Celeste, and Benjamin Blodgett, and Julia and Brent Johnson. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca Robinson, and brother-in-law, Frederick Robinson, of Marblehead.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 am. Burial will be private. Donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St., Worcester, MA 01609 or a charity of donor's choice.




You did so many things for us, your heart was kind and true.
When we needed someone, we could always count on you.
The special years will not return when we were all together.
But with the love within our hearts, you will walk with us forever.
