COCHITUATE: Eleanor R. (Russell) Lagasse, 82, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Leonard Morse Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born in Winchendon on October 26, 1931 the daughter of the late Harold E. Russell and Elvira Marion (Baird) Russell.
Eleanor is survived by her children Doris A. Martin of Hull, Robert J. Lagasse of Killeen, TX and Eva L. Lagasse of New London, CT. She is also survived by her brother Raymond Russell of Alfred, ME, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Lagasse who died in 2002.
Eleanor spent her formative years in Winchendon and was educated through the Winchendon school system. For several years she resided in Peterborough, NH and for the past 57 years has been a resident of Cochituate.
Eleanor retired after over 23 years of dedicated service as an assembler with the Continental Baking Company in the Hostess Baking Division in Natick. She enjoyed doing crafts especially macramé and crocheting. She also enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles. She was a longtime communicant of Saint Zepherins Church. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate.
Her funeral services will follow at 10:45 am at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Lagasse family lot in Saint Zepherin Cemetery, Bent Ave, Cochituate.
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial gifts in Eleanor’s memory be sent to Juveniles Diabetes Foundation, 103 Walnut St, Wellesley, MA 02481 and would be appreciated.
