Obituary

O’Connell, Lenahan, Esq., of Jamaica Plain, January 5, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Priscilla H. (Halloran) O’Connell. Loving father of Lenahan Louis O’Connell and his late wife Deborah of Lexington, KY, Donn O’Connell and his wife Eileen Regan O’Connell of Jamaica Plain, and Brendan H. O’Connell of Jamaica Plain. Devoted grandfather of Meghan O’Connell Kmetko and Brian O’Connell, Elizabeth O’Connell and Michael O’Connell. Also survived by 3 great grandchildren. Loving brother of Diarmuid O’Connell of Cohasset. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the Robert J. Lawler & Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY on Thursday January 9, at 9:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours in the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.

Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.

Late WW II Army veteran, Lieutenant Colonel Judge Advocate Corps.
Lenahan attended Harvard Law School in 1935 and graduated Boston University Law School, J.D.in 1938, Boston College, A.B.in 1934. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1938 . A retired Lieutenant Colonel of the US Army, he served as a Judge Advocate officer in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. For more than 60 years, Lenahan practiced at his family's Boston law office, O'Connell & O'Connell. Other appointments included that of Asst. Attorney General 1949-1953, Treasurer, Boston University Law School Association, 1956-1972, Trustee Social Law Library, 1959-1962; President of Trustees of the Boston Public Library, 1966-1971,Trustee of the Museum of Fine Arts., and Member, Board of Directors, Judge Advocates Association, 1966-1977. He also acted as Commander of the Massachusetts Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. Lenahan has served with untiring effort the cultural, civic, and military activities of Boston including the Erie Society of Boston, The Kiwanis Club, The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, The American Ireland Fund and The Massachusetts Historical Society.
