Obituary


Manchester– Raoul R. “Bob” Garand, 78, died January 3, 2014 at the Catholic Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Biddeford, ME., on January 2, 1936 the son of Jacques and Clara (Fecteau) Garand.
He served his country in the US Army Reserve. Prior to his retirement he was a truck driver for Associated Grocers of New England and was a member of Teamsters 633. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Post 1163, a 50 year member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Past President of Good Sam Camping Club, and Assistant Scout Master of Troop 110. He was a parishioner of Parish of the Transfiguration and a greeter at Amherst Christian Church.
He enjoyed woodworking, trains and cooking but most of all he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita (Gagnon) Garand on June 10, 2000.
Members of his family include two sons, Robert W. Garand of Manchester, Marc D. Garand and his wife Susan of Epping, two daughters Lise M. Tucker and her husband George of Hudson, Susan L. Garand of Portsmouth, two grandchildren Travis G. and Sean M. Garand, one brother Joseph E. Garand of Sanford, ME, one sister Sr. Clara Gertrude Garand PM of Methuen, MA. and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at the J.N. Boufford Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St.. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM in Parish of the Transfiguration, Kelley St.. Committal prayers will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
