LACONIA - Dorothy V. Taft (Newton) born on November 12,1921 passed away peacefully on January 3,2014.
Happily Married to Robert D. Taft on August 25, 1943. She worked at Leland Gifford,were they met, in the cost department. Then during WW2, while Robert went to serve she put time into the Red Cross as a nurses aid. They together built a home in Shrewsbury MA. and raised three children. She then worked at Hebert Candies until retirement.
She leaves behind her husband of 70 years, Robert D. Taft, a brother, Robert A. Newton and his wife Diane J. Newton, a sister Barbara L. Carlson,. a son David W. Taft and his wife Lela Taft, three Grandchildren Christian Taft, Robert Maider, and Stephanie Jean and her husband Peter Jean, with whom she spent her last days with. Four Great-Grandchildren, Jeffrey Harrison, Pvt. Patrick Harrison, Philip Gonyea, and Joshua Jean.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two daughters Carolyn E. Taft and Janice B. Taft and her brother, Warren A. Newton, who passed last year
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private.
