Obituary

After a courageous battle with cancer our treasured husband, son, brother, uncle and friend Dave "Dobe" Feakin, 46 of Prosser, WA. left us to be with the Lord on December 26, 2013. He was surrounded by his cherished wife and family. He was born on June 19, 1967 in Portland, Oregon to Donald Alvin Sr. and Donnajean (Swanson) Feakin.

Dave was raised on Sauvies Island, Oregon. He graduated Scappoose high school in 1985 and enlisted 4 years with the U.S. Coast Guard, earning top honors in National Motor Life Boat School at Cape Disappointment, also attending Maritime Law Enforcement School and US Coast Guard Boatswains Mate "A" School. After leaving the Coast Guard, he attended the Diver's Institute of Technology, receiving his commercial diving certificate graduating with honors. In 1998 he became a Washington State Master Electrician through IBEW Electrical Apprenticeship. Education was something Dave continued to do to further his knowledge in the offshore industry, receiving numerous certificates and also attending WSU, Tri-Cities.

In early 1991, Dave met his wife Tammy in Seattle and later married in Grandview, Washington on September 7, 1991. Dave and Tammy started their life together in Oregon where Dave worked in the family well drilling business with his father Don and brother Duane for several years. Later moving to Prosser, Washington where Dave and Tammy made their home for the last twenty years. Dave would become an electrician, owning his own business, Intrepid Electric, for several years. After selling the business he pursued his second love "the ocean" (first love being his wife) working in the seafloor exploration field. This passion for the ocean would take him to many parts of the world on different vessels. This also led Dave to documenting his many experiences working over seas. At one point Dave had quite a following with his stories, always sprinkling them with humor throughout, and left you wanting more. Dave was a man of few spoken words, but when he had something to say, it was "always" worth hearing. He loved his family and friends whom he enjoyed spending time with. If it wasn't fishing in Canada with family, camping or taking time with his wife to go to the beach, he could be found listening to Jimmy Buffett and enjoying leisure time with his wife. Traveling was an adventure for Dave, whether it be to the casino with his mom and dad, or to Thailand with Tammy to visit his brother Donnie and wife Nit. Dave had a special fondness for his three "very large" dogs Summer, Boomer and Baby. Something Dave found he enjoyed later in life was cooking. He'd become quite proficient with his chef skills and BBQ techniques as many family and friends would attest to. Dave was a very mathematical man with a huge interest in electronics, sometimes to his wife's frustration. But if you had a question, or wanted to know something technical, he was the one to ask. Dave will be missed profoundly.

Survivors include his spouse and love of his life, Tammy (Galliher) Feakin; parents, Don and Donnajean; brothers, Don (Nit), Duane (Shelli) and Dean; mothers in law, Donna Heintz and Alicia Galliher; brother in law, David (Nancy) Galliher; step sister in law, Dusty (Rich) Rhea; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews, Cody, Callie, Jake, Katie, Travis, Brecken, Maya, Emma and Ian. Dave also leaves behind numerous life long friends, many like family. Dave was preceded in death by his father in law, Jerry Galliher.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Prosser.
